High School English combines skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking, and is designed to fulfill the needs of  the student who is considering post high school education as well as the student who will go directly into the workforce. The course takes the approach of using differentiated instruction to meet the needs of the students and provides for remediation.

The literature study focuses on the story elements and includes sections on poetry, drama, short story, and novel.

In this course, the writing process is emphasized through the use of the Collins Writing Program. The students will use this method to produce a variety of work including several five paragraph essays.

Other course work includes vocabulary development, career research, and oral presentations.
